Default Under seat battery

Hi, I am looking at getting an '05 diesel Cruiser with the battery under the passenger seat. Will I have to replace it with an OE battery or is there a simple mod to allow me to use cheaper uk alternatives please?

Here's a thread with some a little good info:

Moving the GEL Battery, help required.

Here's a video on replacement with a standard battery. (For me, I might worry about gas venting with a standard battery since I would literally be sitting on top of it.):

Here's some links to an Optima battery replacement (you will need to verify fitment for your PT):

And here's the Google search I used to find all this stuff.

regular batteries give off hydrogen while they charge. the arcing in your blower motor is enough to ignite it and it can explode with enough force to blow out the windows of your car. you would need something like a moroso sealed battery box with a vent tube that vents outside to do this safely. IMO not worth the $70 box + battery to do it save and literally quite dangerous otherwise.

Thanks for that, the link for the optima battery makes it a lot cheaper than most for a battery to fit without a mod but is 55ah enough for a 2.2 diesel engine?

Thanks, I know how dangerous they can be but the mod fitment in the video clearly shows the vent pipe being extended and fitted and as most common battery's these days are sealed for life the only way for gas/fumes to escape would be through the vent pipe.
