Default Electrical box and fuses in rear?

Didn't know which forum to ask in, so apologies if this is the wrong one...

2nd series (diesel, but fairly sure that doesn't matter)

What is the electrical box / thingybob and fuses under the left hand rear plastic cover in the boot, over the rear wheel arch?

Curious minds wish to know

Lion, he is from Europe and has a Diesel. Lots of small changes in that kind of PT.

NO , don't take it the wrong way. I was just explaining that the European cars, especially the Diesel have different things than on the U.S. models. I moved the whole post over to the Europe forums for him to get an answer. You want to see a picture, fine, maybe he'll post one but in the meantime he's still looking for an answer.

Sounds like the same cubby hole that the U.S. models have on the left side of the rear compartment but ours is just a place to hide things where he apparently has some fuses placed there by Chrysler.

Loads of US owners asked why that cubby hole was there and none of us knew that the European models had a purpose for it.
rckstein, ptprice and LionPT like this.

If you want to PM me the VIN to your PT, I can go to my local dealership and they should be able to pull up a parts diagram of the area.

Thanks mate I will do later, books out in the car.

Yes, it's some kind of electrical box, with a row of three (from memory) automotive type fuses alongside it, mounted kind of between the inside of the rear wheel arch and the small side window.

I *think* it's roughly where the factory fit subwoofer sits, if that makes sense?

I've googled, search the forum and so on, and the Works Manual is about as much use as a chocolate tea pot for most diesel related stuff.

I'll have to pull all the plastic off to get a pic, I will when I get a chance.

Sinbad, Is this the electrical box or "cubby" area you speak of?

For a few beginning years here in the USA Chrysler supplied a cubby cover for the PT.

SOOO BIG, being a 2005 PT, didn't come with the cover but I found a cubby cover for SOOO BIG's at a salvage yard in an earlier model PT. I use this now hidden cubby area to store a set of jumper cables to assist an occasional damsel in distress who needs a jump.

Happy PTin', ptprice

No mate, it's under the big plastic cover that runs from the back lid to the back door on the drivers side - has a cut out for crap, and it's where the sub sits on a subwoofer equipped PT.

Mind you, I'll have a dig an d see if I've got that extra cubby Cheers

The storage area that ptprice has shown is on the panel on the left-hand side on US PT's (see below pic):

Is that where your fuse box is located? When you say "drivers side" is your PT a LH or RH drive?
ptprice likes this.
