Default APC Euro tail lights

I love the look of these. Are there any problems with them? Are they easy to install? What should I pay?

I've heard about moisture build up inside. Anyone have any experience with these?

Thanks,
PTPaul

Paul,
I liked the looks of the tail lights also and got a pair of APC Fiber one's for my silver PT. They look great and it stands out from the normal PT. Some people (including myself) are seeing strange things on the clear cover. Mine have what looks like small scratches on the inside of the lense on the right rear light...not enough to hardly notice, but other have had condensation and lots of "scratches" on theirs and one person has sent theirs back twice to the company for replacement. There's a lot of people that have them and only a couple of bad reports so maybe they all don't have the problem of scratches and condensation. They fit nice and go on and off without any trouble. Their a little expensive (unless you get a good price on ebay like I did) so use a reputable dealer and keep the receipt so you can replace them if need be.

I had 3 pairs of these lights, they all turned out to be defective. I recommend waiting for the next round of lights, they look like they're redesigning them now. Here's a pic of a not-yet-released new lights, http://www.ptcruiserparts.com/Events/sema2001/pic58.htm

Here's my last pair.

The APC carbon fiber tail lights that I HAD on my PT were the worst item that I installed. It was, what I considered, the weak link on the rear of the car. I had an early set that had about a 3/16 gap around both of them, the arch was too high and didn't fit tightly to the fenders. The last straw was that they fogged up, took moisture and the bottom lens melted on both of them.

I already replied to this topic but I have something to add. Just got back from visiting my son/grandson in Maryland. I stopped by a place called PTWAREHOUSE after I ordered a licence plate frame. While talking to Ira Kats, he asked me if I was having problems with the APC taillights (I have the carbon fiber ones). I told him about the small scratches which I thought was my only problem. He pointed out to me that the lower red lenses which stay on whenever the lights are on were melting. Sure enough I took a closer look and saw that both lower red lenses had thumb size dimples in them (for lack of a better word). He said the regular bulbs will completely melt the red lenses after a period of time. He told me of replacment LED bulbs that are brighter but do not give off any heat. I bought a pair (a little expensive at $12 each) but I like the looks of the taillights and wanted to keep them. Just a thought for the rest of you. Maybe with these new bulbs it won't get as hot inside the entire light and the rest of the problems (moisture/scratches) won't appear...but that's only a guess. The bulb part number is #50.4050D and I got them at www.ptwarehouse.com ....<img src=icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle>

Crewzin, thanks for the info....the lights pictured above also have the APC replacement LED bulbs from Ira.

The heat is only one issue with them. The other problems are moisture, and the 'scratching'. The LED bulbs won't fix the moisture fogging and scratching unfortunately.
