Default Window rain guards

I just joined the forums, but have been reading a lot of post and got a lot of info so far .

I was wondering if anyone has the in channel rainguard from ERG on their cruiser? I was thinking of buying a set but wanted to know if they are any good, or if I should just get the standard tape on visors.

Thanks,

I have the in-channel guards, and love them.
Just make sure it is a warm day when you install them, as it makes it much easier.

I think they look better, and the installation is Clean and always straight, after you get them wiggled into place. Once they are properly seated in the window channels, they look perfect.

The Tape-On type looks cheaper, and are actually harder to install. The tape gives you only one chance to get the alignment right; a tiny error will lead to misalignment that will look like <manure>.

Also, in-channels last longer. They tend to be thicker plastic, Mine have no cracks or problems after 3 years and lots of extreme weather.

We have the in-channel on the 01 and 04. The 01 has the ones you mentioned, and the 04 has the weathertech (if I remember correctly). They are both great, however I like the ones on the 01 better because they are a darker black. The 04's are more of a smoke. The other thing to consider when choosing which ones to get (in channel or tape on) is if you plan to add chrome pillar trim to the car. It looks better when you have the in-channel style. You would have to overlap the trim and shade once installed.

Another vote for the Weathertech.
I have the ones I had on my '02 - there's now about 100,000 miles total on them and they're still great. The in-channel hugs closer to the window thatn tape-on for looks, wind resistance, and break-in protection. I like being able to leave windows cracked on a hot day..

We have the in channel and they are worth every penny. They look great and really serve a purpose.

genaro,

Please look at the upper left hand corner of the first and each posting before answering up on any of the posts you find. The above thread if from 2006 and some of the people on the thread are no longer active members of the site. You'd be better off starting your own thread with your question.
