The third row seats look like they would only fit small children which would be pretty dangerous. What would happen if that PT got into a rear collision, whoever is sitting in the trunk seats would smash the backs of their heads in the rear hatch glass. Might be safer if the seats were reversed so that there was some space to move during an impact.

I did not think it was safe but it sure was a nice job. The show was great.

To me, it looks like it would only be used when parked to keep the kid(s)safe. The hatch door would be opened and kid(s) would be straped in so they could watch what's going on. Don't think it was made for kids to sit in it while the vehicle was in motion. I may be wrong, but it's hard to tell which part is the upper part of the seat. Kid(s) could face either way. [:I]

I like the split door effect though.

Agree the seats are the same top & bottom, but the seat belts are clearly meant for the seats to be used as shown.
If the lower tailgate flips almost horizontal, something would be needed to keep it at angle shown.
Biggest flaw I see is the upper half - travel at any speed, and the top would get pushed down - something would be neded to fix that at about horizontal...
I like seeing stuff like that - shows people were thinking...[?]

Very interesting!

As a mom, those seats scare me silly [:0] but I love the split hatch idea. That is definitely one improvement on an already (almost) perfect vehicle!

That PT is Jim Yurick’s “Party Time”! He does a Road Runner and Wile E. Coyote them. You must have taken the pic before he had Road Runner and Wile E. Coyote sitting in the “Rumble Seat”.
You can see there is a trailer attached and that is “Party Time Jr.”
