I recently purchased the grill blackout kit from Streamline Designs:
http://www.streamlinedesign.com/ptcruiser/ptgbok.html I believe that it was Crewzin who had shown me this link, as he had installed it on his grill. I installed mine yesterday, and am a little disappointed. I wanted to know if anyone else out there has used it, and what they thought? Did it make a difference? My PT is electric blue, so I can see how the horizontal grill lines would not be as clearly differentiated from the vertical, even with the blackout. (if I had a camera, I would post pics for you all) And I'm not disappointed in the product, just the appearance. Have any other colored PT owners tried this? Have you been able to do anything else to accent the horizontal grill pieces? I liked the blue grill, and that's why I didn't want to go to a chrome one, but it looks like that may have to be the next step. |

I really think this kit was intended for a light colored grille. I have a silver PT and had added horizontal chrome strips to the grille. The black out kit made the chrome strips stand out much more which was exactly the effect I wanted.

Yeah, that's what I'm figuring. I wonder how it would look with the chrome over the electric blue...
Any electric blue owners out there have the chrome overlay? Possibly post some pics? Thanks!!!

Here is a Steel Blue with chrome strips and vertical black outs. Your Blue should offer much better contrast to give you three levels of detail. I added the VBOs to reduce reflection and hopefully they will "fade" to less reflectivity with age.

Any suggestions on where to get good chrome? I don't think I can afford a whole new grill, but are the inserts worth it? Will they stay on? I have heard that with the heat that the GT engine produces, they may not look too good....

I have A Dream Ser. 1 Inca Gold and installed the grill blackout kit I love the look. I have a couple of wrinkles in a few of the panels MY FAULT not Streamlines and extruded plastic chrome on the grill edges. They are some kind of stuck no worries with them comming off.
