*Cheap mod alert* I used a 2 buck license plate bolt kit from Target - 4 black nylon bolts with chrome snap on caps.
I also tried some generic Chrysler mushroom push-in plugs from Pep Boys, flat black. You could probably use touch-up paint on these. Either way is an easy, cheap fix. Cheapness Rules ![]()

Might not be the best repair but this may work. Several years ago, I fixed a small hole in a friend's rotomolded plastic kayak by using a hot glue gun and "injecting" the glue (slow setting stuff) into the hole in the hull and then while the glue was setting, I put some paint on to to match. Then some light sanding after it dried and another coat of paint.
Regards Terry

Removing two 1/4 inch license plate holes is a purely visual desire. Beware of sanding. Even f successfully filled (easier said than done) it will probably result in a 1/l4 inch hole becoming a 1 inch diameter sanded spot. Now its really visible! Frequently the paint on a plastic bumper is NOT the same paint as that on a steel body. It may be the same color, but the base ingredients are different so as to accomodate plastic (different thermal expansion, different adhesion, flexible, etc). Not to mention the clear coat . . . .

On soonercruiser, last year, the dealer put holes in the front bumper. Fortunately, we were putting the PT bumperette on it anyway.
With the new black vert I just got, I wanted a pure, clean front bumper. I tried some screw-in buttons, but didn't like them. So, I decided that I would attempt a comprehensive repair. My thinking is that, this time, black should be easy to repair, and I am going to get the 3M film on the front bumper in order to avoid all the hours of repairing paint chips, like I've had to do on soonercruiser. The film should mask out any minor imperfections in my job. So, I used an Exacto knife to cut into the edges of the hole, so no urethane edges was sticking out or up in the air. Then, I did several body putty repairs, sanding, a then repairs again, and sanding. Then I aggressively buffed the paint in the area surrounding areas; and finally painted with the Chrysler OEM repair paint, using a piece of cardboard with a oblong hole shaped like the bumper to avoid overspray. The weather got ugly here this week. The general spay paint quality looked good to me. So, I left her highness in storage for the paint to cure well. When it gets warmer this week, I will probably get her out Wed or Thur, buff out the paint a little more; then Meguires 1, 2, 3, and wax in prep for placing the 3M film in January. Will post pictures of the next 2 or three steps. ![]() |
