The door panel will have to come off to find the connector. There should be 2 torx screws through the door arm rest, and 3 to 5 phillips screws at the bottom of the panel.

There are also some spring clips on the outer edges of the panel.

This isn't a great description of the removal procedure. I had to remove the panels on my 2002 PT to put some Valrad Gothic Scanners on the panel that covers the mounting hardware for the mirrors, and this is from memory.

This should be enough for you to decide if you want to tackle it or not. I would recommend putting the windows all the way down, as the weatherstrip at the top of the door panel is a tight fit and the windows being down will give a little more "wiggle room" to get the panel off. Pull it away from the door at the bottom, then straight up to get it loose at the top of the door panel.
