Default Grille and Beltline Advice Needed

I take possession of my new PT Cruiser on Friday. I am tempted to install the "Auto-Tech Plastics Chrome Beltline Kit" and the the new "APT Real Chrome Plated Grille", both of which I found on the PTCruiserParts.com website. Does anyone have experience with either of these products? The beltline kit seems tricky to stick on straight (plus it's plastic.) I will be happy to hear suggestions. I read other postings about Stull grille and E&G side body accent. Glad to hear the E&G wasn't toooo difficult. I like the idea of stainless steel. Thx.

Hello!

I have put on the auto-tech plastics belt-line and grill kits. I do not have the official belt-line kit though. I bought a slightly narrower chrome trim right from auto-tech, before their website was pulled. (They sold all kinds of trim, and for cheaper than PTWoody, who sells those kits now. www.PTWoody.com ) At any rate, putting it on was easy. Even though it's plastic, its guaranteed, and I think it looks good. I have read where people have taped wooden dowel rods into the beltline groove to make sure it's straight, but I just eyeballed it. As far as your grill choice, that seemed pretty spendy for me for what you got. I think some of the others are more worth it, but thats just me. I'm more on a budget, so the plastic grill kit worked for me. I was kind of skeptical, but after I got done, it does look quite nice!! That's my 2 cents worth.

Happy cruizin!!!!

Thank you for your reply. Very helpful. I picked up the car and it is so beautiful as is, that I will not be making any modifications at present!! (Patriot Blue, Touring Edition.)
