Hi Jack,
Thanks for the feedback. I don't travel much, but I do spend a long time in my car every day. I have a long commute each day in very heavy traffic (Metro DC), and on a really bad night (i.e. every Friday in summer) it can take me 2 to 21/2 hours to get home. I am SICK(sorry for shouting) of commercial radio and the mindless ads that fill their airwaves. I like oldies/classic rock and all I hear on local stations is the same stuff over and over again. I have a limited supply of CDs and I even get sick of them when I listen to them continuously.

So that is why I am looking at the Sat. radio - purely for the variety and lack of ads and dumb DJ's! How is the reception with it? Does bad weather affect it all? [:I]

Don't waste your money on satelite radio. you still have o deal with the DJ's. If it was'nt for me getting it free for a year I would'nt have it.

got the "shortie" antenna with a purchase from PT Tuning. I haven't had any problems with reception. I live in northern Illinois 20 miles from chicago. I drove down to Bloomington, Il.(140+miles) recently and had no problems with hearing Chicago radio stations.

Just bought a 16" chrome antenna at Kragens for about $14. No problem with reception that I can tell.

I've been using a 10" shorty antenna for 2 months now without any problems, only paid around $15. Works great around town, keep my stock antenna for road trips in case I need it in remote areas, can swap it out in about 30 sec.

Well I am thinking of a different treatment, the retractible antennae. I saw a kit offered for $109 on one of the part house sites and am thinking seriously about it. Has anyone any experience with these?
