Default Blow the Struts, Keep the Springs

I have a 2002 base Cruiser with absolutly nothing done to it and I am thinking about getting the SPS Sport Lowering Springs for a start. Now I am wondering if these will blow my shocks and struts or if not, how bad it will make my Cruiser pogo? Also how uneven will the wear be without the camber kit(I only have so much money at one time). Hope you guys and girls can help me with this. Thanks.

How low do you want to go? If it's pavement dragging height, you might want to consider air bags, so you can adjust if neccesary (over parking lot and driveway entrances and such)..if it's just a couple 2 or three inches..go with one of many aftermarket lowering springs. Look through the links on this site to see just how many options and prices there are. Lowering springs alone don't require any further modifications at all, other than a new alignment. These only cost a few hundred dollars, depending on the springs you choose. The ride quality is preserved, they handle and look great. If you want to "put it in the weeds" (w/o air bags) it's a different story. They usually ride like tanks, components scrape, modifications are usually required, and it's gonna cost a lot more. They DO look cool just sittin' there, though.

This is gonna be hard to believe but I sware it's true. I had the EIBACH springs put on at a local shop when I was living in Maryland. They lowered the PT about two inches and it looks great. I have never, ever, had the car aligned after the springs were installed. I'm coming up to 30,000 miles, change the oil and filter every 3,000 and rotate the tires every 6,000. All the tires are wearing perfectly and it looks as though I'll get another 10,000 out of the tires at least. As far as the drop goes, the only thing I hit all the time are the mud guards which are cheap enough to replace every couple of years. I've had them on for 16 months now and they are a little ruff at the bottom edges. <img src=icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle>

Going with the new alignment is just a case of covering one's butt, I guess. It sounds like you were lucky enough not to need it with the tire-wear you describe..cool. Just to be on the safe side, though, with any lowering job..I would go ahead and get the alignment..for the cost, it's pretty cheap insurance. That way you don't have to wounder if you should have, before seeing adverse tire-wear. I too, went the 2" Eibach route..love em. They ride and handle terrific..and it looks so much better.
