Default Paint Bumpers

Ok, I went to the dealers body shop wanting to get my 2002 Limiteds bumpers painted same color as PT. He said no way, there is no way to do it, he said the bumpers wont hold the rubber bumper paint. I say bull.....has anyone had their bumpers painted ?

The dealer body shop told me the same thing when I took my 2001 Touring Edition in to them. IMHO, find a good custom body shop to help you out.

They are full of it. I had mine done over 18 months ago and other than rock chips the paint looks as good as the day they were done

[xx(] I got the same thing from several people here before I found someone who could do it. As a matter of fact, I have had both of my cars done (Patriot Blue and Taupe ) They look great!

If you post your location, then hopefully someone who lives in your area can let you know of a body shop in that area that can do them for you. Lots of people have had them done. It's just a question of finding a qualified shop where they know the right way to do it.

That was one of the best things I had done to my cruiser last year. Matter of fact the bumpers are the only part of the front with no chips.

Found its NO problem to paint em yerself if you will be satisfied with the somewhat matte finish of stock black bumpers. Wash em good with brush and like a kitchen cleaner. Rinse well. Now do a light sanding for some tooth, with a medium fine sandpaper (not wet/dry).
Rinse off good. Now a light sanding with say a 240 w/d sanding wet.
All this for tooth. let dry well. mask. spray with NORMAL primer from yer spray can mfg. Spray several light coats of final color.
will try sep post of a pic.

Had mine painted over a year ago by the dealer's body shop, and it was what the car should have looked like from the factory. Holding up very well.
