okay did any one get the motor wires wired right. On the OEM's they have 3 wires that hook to the harness, on the aftermarket it has 4. A red, white, blue and yellow. That is not the led wires those are shorter and are white ( that is for the amber color ) blue ( for the blue lol) and black which is for the ground. If anyone knows what wires on the aftermarket motor wire to wire with the OEM wires , could you let me know.. It would help out..Thanks

For sure the wireing as been my problem also. Have a hole handfull of new 10A fuses and I am going to solve the problem (maybe) (this for the power mirror operation) the LED wireing works fine, I just wired them all together.
OK I have now taken the passenger OEM mirror and cut a hole for the LED unit from the new mirrors I bought, and have installed the LED unit. Not easy because you have to take the OEM mirror completely apart and it took me about two hours to make a patern and cut the whole and then cut down the original power mirror thing so every thing would fit back inside. Hooking up the wireing today, I hope and maybe a photo tomarrow. It looks OK but not perfect. And I am getting used to the new (smaller type) that I put on the drivers side. I almost like it!

I now have the old factory mirror reinstalled and everything works including the LED signal unit. The LEDs work fine at night but are quite dim during the day. So now I have the old mirror on the passanger side and one of the new signal mirrors on the drivers side. And I think I like them both, but still thinking about it. The new mirrors I bought are quite a bit smaller and the mirror glass is the type that makes thing look far away which is not good. The other problem with the new mirrors is that I can't figure out how to wire up the power mirror stuff (can't find the right wires to hook up) and the new mirrors are not really BLACK, they are a very dark, almost black gray and my car has a black top. O Well But.

Maybe no one cares. So I go down to Cruiserfest in Modesto Calif. from Portlland Oregon with two differant signal rear view mirrors on my car and no one even noticed (one new one and a factory one I modified). Thats OK because I like them anyway.
How many other people have done this mod?

I've been away from the forums for a little while.
I think I like the converted OEM's way better than the aftermarket. The AM's were small, the right mirror for me wouldn't adjust to a good angle, they were LOUD at speed, couldn't get it to wire correctly, etc. I think I am going to do what you did and just install the LED's into my OEMs, but I had thought about making a sort of cover for the OEMs with the LED's instead of cutting up the OEM mirrors. Do you have a larger picture of the mirrors? Anything I should know about doing what you did, or if you did it again, what would you do different (i.e. the drivers side, etc?)

Not sure making a cover will work well. The LED board is kinda thick. It takes some time and you have to be careful but cutting the OEM mirrors and putting the LED inside is easy enough. But you probably do need the small rotary cutters/sanders. Then all you do is use some silcone to hold the LED inside. Easy. And you can even see the LEDs working at night because the light shines out the rear side a little bit.
I have gotten usted to the smaller AM mirror and it is OK now. Still can't make it adjust with its motor, but have not tried for a while.

If I made the covers, it would be with new LEDs, rather than using the LEDs from the AM unit. I was thinking of doing just really bright yellow for the turns and bright white for when the high beams are on. I think I can just wire up the right resistors if needed and just run them in paralell with the regular turn signals instead of messing with a controller board.
I'm likely to go this route because I'll get brighter LEDs and will be able to customize them a little more anyways. If I use the AM ones, I'd probably buy a set of mirrors from a junker and modify them so I don't have to drive without mirrors because I don't have a ton of free time. I've got cutting equipment and some other fabrication equipment, so I'll be fine on that end.

Boy if you know how, why not make up your own LED units. They will be on the outside of the OEM mirrors? And all you have to do is drill a small hole to run the wireing inside. Sounds like a real good plan. If I knew how I would do that also. Make some up, maybe you can sell some. I have really been looking at signal mirrors and some of the Mercades ones stick out far enough so that you can see a part of them from the rear, which seems like a good idea and so that cars coming up on you from the side will see them working also. Keep working on it.
