Now after driving my 2002 "Unlimited Edition" (the striped down version) for over five years, I'd like to add a aftermarket "powered" sunroof. On ebay, someone has the entire sunroof (glass, motor, seal and track) for sale out of a 2001 PT. Question: would this mount up under the headliner on a stock non-sunroof model. My train of thought is somewhat like adding OEM fog lights. The wiring is already there but you need to add a switch. Has anyone in the forum added a power sunroof to their PT? Would you like to share the do's and don'ts.
Thanks,

Geezer,
The OEM sunroof equipped Cruisers have a different roof panel when the body is made which has the hole stamped and the edges of the opening formed. The headliner is different with a bump in it to accomodate the sunroof track. I don't think the wiring would be there. Your best bet would be to go for an aftermarket sunroof.

the wiring definately isnt there, and the understructure of the roof doesnt have the correct mounting points for a sunroof. you can go afterproduct sunroof, but the fit and finsih wont be of the same quality as a factory unit. if you do go that route, find a place in your area that specializes in afterproduct sunroof installs, as they will have the experience and tools needed to do the job correctly.

First of all, PT Chix you have the nicest PT that I've seen in a long time. Nice job from top to bottom.
Well, I broke down and had an aftermarket (motorized) sunroof put in and I can't wait for the first sunny day in Ohio (yes, I might be waiting a while). Now that its done, I really enjoy driving my PT even more. Thanks for the advice.
