Hi, I have installed 6000K HID's in the low beams and 3000K in the fog lights. Both kits are 9006 and the majority of HID kits on the market come with the straight connector bulb. This is not a problem for the foglights either since there is enough room in front of the wheelwell cover. The low beam ballasts in mine are mounted right up beside the bulbs in the headlight assembly, and the foglight ballasts were mounted the same way. I had some friends at a performance shop install mine and both installs were done in less than an hour. They take off the front wheels which makes the job much easier, and the foglight install required them to unscrew the wheelwell cover (3 screws) in order to get the ballast into place. I bought both kits from EBay and the seller was "Intense HID". These kits are Japanese with a 1 year warranty and they have performed great. The difference is absolutely phenomenal. You don't have to pay huge prices for these kits to get quality so don't let anyone tell you different. Check out the 2 websites- www.intensehid.com or Welcome to Xenon-Vision :: L.E.D & HID Lighting System.

Actually I got mine off of ebay for $89.00 inc shipin
I have had no problems with them whatsoever............I didn't need no relays or anything else; the install was "plug n play" Mabey you got bad ballasts or even the bulbs...I am just guessing though. As for the relays...check out ebay...

the only 2 solutions i have found so far are: get the "non flicker kit" which makes the 35w ballast, use 55w (making the car see 55w) or get 50-55w ballasts i am looking at what it takes to make a "non-flicker kit" i work with a few electrical engineers (me being mechanical i have no clue) and might be simple as a small rectifier...easily built with el-chepo parts. i will update you all tomorrow, when i find out. |

Hey Stone White...
I'm looking to convert my PT to HID lights this spring. I drive many miles every day on dark rural roads so this is a perfect mod for me. I looked up your source on 3B specialties but they are a pricy group. Probably high quality thought I suppose. So here are my questions about your HID experience: 1. I want to go with 8000k for my low beams & 6000k for the high beams - seems like the best light output/cool look combination to me. 2. Can you comment on the sources I have found for the kits below: I found this source for the 9006 type low beams on amazon:Amazon.com: XenTec HID conversion kit 9006 (HB4) 8000K Single Beam Xenon (Thunder Blue): Automotive Same source for the 9005 type high beams:Amazon.com: XenTec HID conversion kit 9005 6000K Single Beam Xenon (ultra white): Automotive 3. These kits seem like most mechanically inclined folks can do the install themselves - can you comment on that? It seems to me mounting the ballast and making sure the wires are routed well and tied down away from heat sources is the way to go. XenTec actually quotes their quality defective rate as "0.3% comparable to OEM HID lights" - that seems pretty good to me. Unless OEM HID lights have a tendency to burn out (but that would be news to me). For about $200 large I can have full HID conversion. Sounds good to me. Your thoughts? Thanks, Tom

Hi Muzicmax,
I have a 2006 PT and I have just installed HID 5000K headlights in place of the 9006 low beam Silver Star headlights that I had replaced the factory ones with two years ago. I had the HIDs installed and running in under two hours with the extra wiring harness I needed from Intense HID. Intense HID - HID LIGHTING SPECIALIST (So far, so good) I'm in Calgary as well so please e-me youor phone number and a good time to call you and I can give you the details of the install.
