Default APC CHROME STRUT BAR

I am new to this forum so bear with me.I bought the Apc strut tower bar from a local supplier and have had a problem with it. Two weeks after intalling the bar I noticed that it wore holes in the hood underliner and is starting to wear the paint. I know that Apc has had problems in the past with the Bar and had to retool to correct this. I returned the strut bar to the supplier for a full refund and they told me that they would summit a claim for hood damage to APC. Still waiting to be contacted by APC. Has anybody else experenced this problem with the APC Strut Bar ? Do all manufactures think that PT Cruiser owners are IDIOTS?

TAZ,
It looks like APC are the only ones that are producing items that are causing complaints, although I read where someone had a problem with a front end clip that didn't fit properly. APC, unfortunately are the only ones making the clear and fiber taillights and most of us have had problems with those. I got my tower brace from Race&Sreet and there were no problems at all with that one. Actually, I'm not sure who the maker was on my brace, maybe R&S themselves. To answer your question, No they don't think we are idiots, they want our money because that's why their in business. It just seems that a couple of places are rushing to get their parts on the market before doing the proper testing. The brace I put on was bright yellow to match some of the yellow items already under the hood and it cost $139. It was excellent quality and fit perfectly.

Crewzin,I am talking about the Chrome Strut Bar from APC.The yellow Strut Bar from Race & Street is a different design.I have painted all yellow items in the engine compartment to match the cruiser color which is Patriot Blue. If Race & Street would come out with a Chrome version of this strut bar I would jump on it in a heart beat. Most Cruiser owners are doing something to dress up the engine compartment. The blue intake manifold with the fins painted white add depth to the area. Just trying to brighten up a dull area.

Thanks for the infomation Inferno Cruiser.I am under the impression the chrome strut bar that race & street is selling was made by APC ? I talked to Nick from Hemicruiser yesterday and he tells me he is almost ready to release there new strut tower bar in polished. I think I can for quality. Thanks Again. I will go to race & street to confirm this.

Taz, I am almost positive the strut bars R&S sells are not made by APC. In their add they say they sell the APC bar cheap, but their own product is better. R&S sells their bars in yellow, black, black chrome, and chrome. I just installed mine and you don`t have to bend it like the APC one to get it in. It also does not even come close to hitting the hood.

Thanks Guys,After talking to Nick at hemicruiser I have decided to buy the Strut Tower Brace from him. Nick is telling me it will be tested and ready for sale in about 2 weeks. This sounds like it is worth waiting for.
