It is my understanding that you should not use any wax or car polish on "factory flames" or on any other "decal flames." I have also read that, over time (2-3 years???), they will begin peeling at the edges and/or show other signs of age. Eventually, they have to be replaced. It appears that keeping the car "garaged" is the best solution for extending the life of any type of decal applied the the exterior of a car. Good luck.

Yup thats what I heard too. I got a Black 02 with purple flames and I dread the day those decals start peeling. I'll get the EXACT flame design/color scheme painted on when that happens. When waxing my car, I apply only to the painted parts, but I guess overlapping a little is ok? However I wouldn't recommend using a buffer. Just do it by hand, besides, a little caressing makes for a good bonding experience between you and the car...I hope my fiance isn't reading this...

The biggest problem you will face is the paint around the decals will fade more than the paint under them. The factory replacements are very expensive so keep a close eye on them so if they are going bad they can be replaced while your under warranty
