Hey their metraluk,

Great to hear from you again, and congrats on the new Flames! Weather they be paint, or vinyl, Flames are still Flames, and that is way cool in of itself! I can't wait to see how they turned out!

GoastHawk,

That was a great, and well thought out answer!

And Warped,

Cool Photos my man!

Take er easy!

I'm trying to find the flames that are almost translucent. At certain angles you can't tell they're there. Move a bit and they show up completely. Really neat effect. Saw them on my service managers Prowler but think they came stock on that.

you are looking for Ghost Flames. And they are not stock they are painted on. How they do it (someone correct me if i am wrong) they take the color of you car and add a little pearl to it and shoot the flames. The effect is hardly noticed untill you look for them. here they are on a prowler.

Yup! These are tight! I saw them once on a cool vanilla PT. It was really awesome...I think she even had a very little blue in there too. It was really nice. I was quite surprised you could see them on such a light colored car...white on white.

Yeeeeeeeuuuuuh...those are really nice! I think I do prefer the realistic looking flames...I'm particular about flames on a PT. I must admit, rarely do I see flames that actually improve a PT...but there are definitely some out that really accent it...actually quite a few people on this forum have nice flames.

Hey Everyone,

I'm takin a break from the buffer, and figured I would chime in! Man I hate getting work done on my PT! Seems if your not their to supervise, someone always puts a cardboard box on the roof, or brushes up against the paint just right, and puts a bunch of nice micro scratches, and makes a ton of work with a bottle of compound, and my trusty high speed rotary buffer! Oh well....such is the life of a detailer!

Anyways...Your pretty close their Warped! Ghost flames do for the most part use the stock color, and add pearl, along with a little tint to make it pop a little in direct sunlight.

And then we have that good old Mike Lavallee started way back when, known as True Fire Flames! It is a really cool look, and a trip to watch it being done, but it looks best in moderation rather than doing the entire front of the car. The reason is, it tends to look too busy, or kinda overkill on an otherwise cool look, at least from my perspective having done some air brushing once upon a time. Let me make an attempt at showing what I mean.

Here is real flames done conservatively on red. Looks pretty good, right?

Now, here is the whole front end, which looks good, but kinda is getting to look a little confusing, taking away from an otherwise cool effect.

So, I think what I am trying to say is, their is a really fine line in knowing when to say when! Of course the same can be said about traditional flames as well. The overall layout has a lot to do with how good the flames come out! Unfortunately, it is more of an art, than a science, and the more experience you have in doing it, the better the look!

If you would like to see several different designs, layouts, and even color combination's, please feel free to check out my archive link located just below my sig, and click on Custom Flame Jobs in the menu on the left!

Or, to check out Mike Levallee's website for his shop "Killer Paint", click on the link below!

:::KILLER PAINT::: True Fire, Airbrush, Art, Murals, Hot Rods, Motorcyles, Fine Art, Mike Lavallee, Monster Garage, Overhaulin', Rides, TLC, Discovery, Custom Paint

Anyways, you guys go easy, and I will type at yall later!

Candyman what I would like is Flames like what we did on my cavalier and then filled in with true fire. Like old school look with the licks with real fire inside.P9060008.JPG
