Why do my tail lights and dashboard lights only go on when I brake?

I recently replaced one of the burned out tail lights. Then all of a sudden the interior dashboard lights, lighting on my shifter and brake lights do not light up unless I brake.

Explanations anyone?

That is really strange and have never heard of your problem before. Go over what you did with replacing the taillight as you say it started right after that. Check all the wiring as it sounds like a short or grounding problem somewhere in the system.
