Default Teardrop spotlights

Anyone out there put on the dummy teardrop spotlights that are available thru J.C.Whitney? I'm old enough to remember when they were 'the thing'. I'm thinking they may look good on my Cruiser?

I have a set of the dummy teardrop spotlights that I purchased a few months ago. My new 2002 PT Cruiser is arriving in a few days so I haven't installed them yet. They require two drill holes to mount each one and I am not sure if I want to install them on the door frame above the mirrors or try to mount them thru the hood.

I have seen a few pics on various websites and most of them are mounted on the door frame.

Are you buying some? Where do you plan to mount them? Anyone have tips? Problems with them? Any suggestions from anyone would be appreciated... Thanks... The BIG KAHUNA

Just read your post, just got home from 'Vegas' so late to reply. I've not bought any. That's why I wrote, wanted to see if anyone else has some and their thoughts. Don't plan to get any soon. Just got a chrome grill from AAPTEC and that may be all I do to the PT. Thanks, Brad

The dummy spotlights would have to be mounted on the lower door posts, I believe, to look authentic..right in front of the mirrors. You would also want to make sure you could still open the hood. After growing up around and helping build many custom cars, it's also my opinion that the spotlights don't look correct on anything except "true customs" i.e.late 40's and early 50's Mercury's and the like.. cars with chopped tops, fender skirts, and drastically lowered and tail-draggin' attitudes. PT Cruisers just don't fit into this catagory very well...and they're pretty small cars, really..so I think with the stock mirrors, it would be too busy, and the spotlights would look too big. All my own personal opinion, though.
