Default 2002 Woodie

I just purchased a 2002 PT Woodie. However, I am not really liking the exterior wood panels. Can they be removed?

Welcome.
The answer is yes, BUT...
The "borders" or "frame" - aren't there "pegs" in that ? - they will leave holes.
and
- What is your base color? If it's dark, the paint underneath will be darker, as the paint exposed to sun will have faded some....

I was looking for a woodie around michigan and couldn't find one when I was shopping around for mine, I love the wood look. My wife told me if I bought one I would never have to worry about her driving it cause she hates them. You must have got a great deal if you bought one and you don't like them...

I'd say how hard it'll be to remove it will all depend on what KIND of woody you've got:

Is it an aftermarket 'contact-paper' version? (like stuck-on shelf paper, if that makes more sense.) Most of those will also have trim pieces, that are usually held on by something like 3M doublesided tape. Peel off the trim pieces, peel off the contact paper, clean off residual sticky stuff and you're hopefully done.

Mine's aftermarket 3-dimensional ABS plastic panels: they're glued on, which means if I wanted them off, it'd probably mean a total re-paint job as well.

Then there's the OEM versions; I don't know how or even IF those'd come off, but I doubt you have that anyway, since I believe those were only 2004 and up.

I believe the Ron Jon woody was before 2004!! See:/www.highbeam.com/doc/1G1-85923980.html (Article dated April 5 2002)

Okay, Hooligan, I'll give you the RonJon!

But my point stands: unless he's got a REAL-wood woody, it's all likely held on with glue and/or tape.

Thanks!!! The reason I was sure about that is Ron Jon's main store is about 6 miles away and we had a car show with them in 2005. They had their Inferno Red PT on display also. I do realize it was probably the "!st Special Edition" Chrysler built. Have no idea how many was built & sold.
