Default Conti Kits w/ PTeazer Rollpan

Does any one know of a continental kit that isn't flat on the bottom (is full round)?

I have been browsing various vendors on line to get ideas for what to do with my car when I have a few hundred bucks to blow and I really like the smooth look of the roll pan and the classic look of the conti kit, but it looks like all the kits are flat on the bottom and are designed to sit on top of a traditional bumper.

I'm not sure how the flat bottom would look on the smooth back with the roll pan. For that matter, I'm not even sure one could be installed if it would look right.

Hey their William_F,

Sorry I haven't gotten back to your PM. Been not feeling to great the last couple of days. I will try n get back to you tonight.

As for the Continental Kit, I believe all of the aftermarket ones available are like you say, a fiberglass mold which is flat on the bottom. I believe it is mounted using the Red 3M double sided tape so mounting shouldn't be an issue, however I am not sure it would really look right without having the bumper to balance it out, and then with the bottom being flat, I would think it just might look a bit awkward.

I really wish I could offer you better advice on it, but honestly, I am just not sure this particular look would come out quite right on this one.

Go easy, and I will catch ya later.

No worries, Don. I know you've got a lot going on that makes answering PMs & posts not a high priority.

Sounds like when I get to that stage, it'll take a custom mod to get what I want. I'm not opposed to that. It's not like I've got the funds to do it at the moment anyway.

Besides that, all of the sudden my wife has taken a renewed interest in what I do with Cruiser, so even if I had the bucks, I may not get the nod from the Mrs.

Hey their Guys,

I recon he is interested in a few pic's to go along with some of my thought, and answers and so on. Probably to get a better feel for what we are working on due to the language barrier which I can kind of understand.

Here ya go conadcig, Old William F, and I were discussing trying to put a Continental Kit which is the fiberglass molding of a simulated spare wheel on the rear hatch like this one in the photo.

What Will is thinking about is adding the Kit which is flat at the bottom like you see in the photo, and a smooth roll pan like the one in this photo.

My concern is that with the bottom being flat like it is, it will just leave the wheel haning out in mid air which might look a bit unnatural. However, I forgot all about Lil Red. This is a PT which Ray had also built, and did some amaing air brush work on big time! Anyways, he used his Illusion Pan instead of the smoothie which has a slight bump out to it, and it worked out great. So it might just be an option when you get to that point. Here is a pic.

Anyways, I hope that was a bit better to follow. Go easy guys, and I will catch ya later.

Don, love the pics

As I look at them, I realize that it may be impossible to get a full kit on there because the circumfrence of the tire exceeds the width of the space between the beltline and the bumper, or roll pan or what ever.

Now that's got me wondering if a custom build of a full round (which would be smaller than an actual tire in this case) would fool the eye or if the difference in proportions would be obvious.

Don while we're on the subject of pics, do you happen to have any pics of the rear Nomad kit installed? I have only been able to find one or two and they are shot at the same angle, and I'm not sure about the lip. It might be really neat or it might suck royally but I can't tell from the pics I've been able to find.

Hey their Will,

You mean the green one, Red, or the Illusion rear pan?

Sorry for the confusion Don. The Nomad isn't a conti kit. It's a a different style rear end mod all together.

Here's a sample of it:

This seems to be the only angle photo I can find. It looks like there is a lip or wing of some sort at the beltline and I'm not sure about it. It has the potential to look really neat or it could really suck. Can't tell from this angle, but like I said, I can't find any other pics of the kit to check it out.

From what I can tell, this kit is essentially the the "wing" plus the chrome strips.

Alright, now I got ya. The chrome is a separate piece from the half wing which is a Cal Cruisers Product that never really caught on. I have a couple of pic's I can pull up of different angles of the wing on a couple of other Cruisers, but like has been said many times before, old PT Bob over at Cal Cruisers is not worth much both in rep, and quality of parts, so don't say I didn't warn ya.

As for the Chrome strips, they are all separate, and applied with the 3M sticky Tape as is with most products, and you can opt to just use some, and put that Continental Kit on with no problem. Or their are also these wider Chrome Strips which look like Chrome Lugage Buckles which also were made to tie in with the Continental Kit as well. Can't remember who has them, but I have all the parts houses saved , and Mitch from Cruiser Motor Sport who is the largest parts suppliers, and a great guy is about 15 minutes from my house so I should be able to track them down easy, or find pics for ya on those if you like as well
