Lip, BigDog is right. "Dent Doctor" is the way to go on small dents and door dings. They usually drill a small hole, hidden from view - such as in a fender well or in the edge of a door. Then will insert a metal rod with a hook on the end. They use this rod to work the dent out by pushing out on the metal from the inside. That way in does not disturb the paint. Most cases the dent with disappear completely (if he/she knows what they are doing} If you can't find one in the phone book check with your dealer or local used car dealer. These guys make their living on used cars at dealerships and you should be able to get the name and number of one there. I had my first door ding removed on my PT last month. My car is black and shows every detail like that. When the fellow finished I couldn't see a trace of the dent - and I'm fussy! If the dent is small (like you said) and fairly easy to get to you should have to pay about $30.00 to $50.00 (US). A lot less than at a body shop and they don't touch your factory paint job either!

Thanks guys!!!
Is "Dent Doctor" some patented process or a chain?

Cheers,

the dent doctor and most of those dent repair places, usually repair the dent from inside the panel, by rolling it out!

I found out that I can't find a rep in Canada. I am planning on doing it myself though...just need to get the time to get to the inner side of the body panel...the dent is tiny...I saw some videos on how they do it and it seems like a joke so I can't see how I could screw it up.

Lip,
I think that "Dent Doctor" might be a franchise name - not sure. But there are lots of people doing the same thing. Where exactly is your dent? If you are going to try it yourself look for a plug, vent, etc. that is already there before drilling a new hole. Go SLOW so you don't end up pushing the metal too far the other direction. You could make it worse. The fellows that I know have gone to school for this so it might not be as easy as it seems. They use a bright light while working the dent which gives them a good reflection off the surface. They also have special tools for the job and caps to plug any holes they drill. My advice would be to have someone experienced do the work for you. It's not that expensive and you might end up causing a bigger problem that might require painting to fix. Again, check with your dealer for the name of someone they use.

Guys, around here they are called Dent Busters, the specialize in dents, resulting from hail damage or typical door dings. like GW says, they are highly trained to do this work. I have seen the results of their work around here, and in a word, Outstanding. YOu can't see any trace of a ding or dent when they finish. Look them up in your yellow pages under dent repair, or hail damage repair. Good Luck, Gary

Yeah, thanks guys, I tend to agree with you.
The dent is right above the wheel well on the front side. It is TINY so I'm not even that bothered about fixing it straight away...I plan to keep the PT GT off the road in the winter and probably in the spring I will look into it. I was just going to see if I could get close to the bare metal and press it out with a "jury rigged tool"....

Cheers,
LIP

Back to the original comments on the products that Gary sells. I e-mailed Gary with a couple of questions, he answered back that evening with suggestions and the cost including shipping. I sent him the check +$'s as I wished a couple of his small MicroFiber towels as well. Within 4 days I got the package Priority Mail.

He does a fantastic job and his products are the best I have ever used and I am 64.

He has a large MicroFiber towel that he also sells, works better than a chamois.
