Cool Re: Look at the tail lights I found!!!!

Cool looking!
Might look cool for shows...
BUT......maybe not be street legal. I believe state and fed laws reuires certain colors & reflector in the tail light.

Yes I was thinking the same thing. Let me ask you something: Does the new tail lighst from 06 an on can fit 04? I like the signal lens clear!!! They look the same to me in size!

Those smoked taillights are just covers. Some of the major PT sites sell the GTS brand.

As for the fitment between the earlier and later models, I've read that the sockets are a little different. That puzzles me because the IPCW LED Taillights are compatible for all years. Don't know how it works but it works.

I've been looking at those for awhile. It's not actually a cover, persay, it's the entire housing.. it's just that our tail light assemblies aren't very big.. so it looks like a cover from the angle pictured. The guy says he bakes the entire housing for like a week or so.. I haven't ordered them yet, but I plan to within the next month or so, so I'll keep you guys posted.

On the legality topic, it's disputable as to whether or not it's illegal.. and there are many different laws in different states, but I've been to a few shows down here in Florida with people who have the coated tail lights like this, and they basically say that it's not something they'll pull you over for specifically, but if you give them another reason to pull you over, they'll write you up for it..

IMHO legal or not I've had a hard time telling if someone with smoked lenses is applying their brakes. I'd worry about getting rear ended.

Yeah, well the other thing I was looking into is replacing the stock bulbs with LEDs to sort of try to bring the light through the lens more. I'm worried though about doing it with the turn signal bulb, because I think I've read some people have had problems with them and had to use a relay of some sort? Anyone know if that's true? (Sort of off-topic..)

So the LEDs will work exactly the same in the running/brake/rear turn signal applications? I was under the impression that LEDs required something else to make them flash on and off repeatedly.
