IRPT, Good Idea, I did something similar by using the same tool to remove the clip from the original fuel door that I took off. Relocated the tether mount to the same place that you did, Functions just like the original fuel door in keeping the the gascap off of the paint. I did not buy a polished fuel door until I figured oue how to keep the cap off of the paint. Actually yours has a nicer look to it as its all polished billet. Good job, very functional, looks good, and best of all THE PRICE IS RIGHT..........

cruisergeo, sorry [:I], don't have a close up of the fuel door yet. Hopefully this will do for the time being

Glad I've got the polished billet aluminum. Of course, if the chrome ones are chromed billet aluminum and they start to peel just strip all the chrome off and polished the aluminum.

For thoses that don't have the bar on the door to make a notch, most hardware store carry a $.25 hook with rubber suction cup. A little extra dab of glue and it will hold forever. Picture below was a test...I moved the hook further out and painted the plastic silver to match.

How much does it cost to take the stock one in and have it chromed?

Gazoo,

With all the choices out there for chrome fuel doors, it's probably a lot cheaper to put on an aftermarket chrome door than have the OEM door chromed.
