Default Mork's Tail Light and Reverse Light Tint Progress

Ello.. Been working on (when I have time) doing my tail light and reverse light tint.

Tonight I just finished the reverse lights... I'm pretty disappointed in them, and will prolly redo them, but for now it's acceptable

Anyways...

I scuffed with 800
VHT (very light coat)
another light coat
1000g wetsand
another couple light coats
1000g
2000g
Buff/Polish

The edges wore through during sanding, but I'll just redo at some point lol.

I just did mine too over the weekend. I failed to wetsand prior to clearcoating and it shows, but they came out OK finishwise. Love the tint though. The dark timt looks great on your PT Morkeste

Thanks guys. You'rs looks good too donkey.

I like mine dark, there's just something weird about being able to see through it.

Sometimes, on my old car, I got mad on sunny days cause the reflector shined through. lol

Btw, how did you avoid sanding through on the edges, and how hard were the lights to do? I'm tryin to get this junk done before Cruizin Clarion

New pic for today.

Cool Re: Mork's Tail Light and Reverse Light Tint Progress

Are you guys using a spray on tint....VHT....????

The new Couture needs the reverse lights toned down too.

Yes, using the VHT Niteshades. I think I used 4 or 5 light coats of nitshades figuring 1 or 2 coats would be sacrificed when I wetsanded (which I didn't do!). It will dry one or 2 shades darker than when wet, so keep that in mind. Just when you say to yourself....one more coat ought to do it....stop!

I was able to keep the edges intact by applying 5 coats of clear. I didn't wetsand prior to clearing so my edges stayed good. I lightly wetsanded the clear with 1500 grit then did the rest by hand using polishing compound. Not too hard, about 15=20 min per light. The reverse lights were cake since they are flat.

But for the love of God, if you are going to clear coat, please wetsand the niteshades before. The clear shines on the surface, but you can see the roughness underneath up close and to me it looks like crap up close....good from afar, but far from good as the saying goes

In PA you have to have a side reflector so if you tint out everything on the tail id tape off the reflector on the side and give it only like on coat towards the end, not that most po pos care

damn the lights look really good. since i'm a vinyl man i would've suggested it instead of a permanent fix like this, but that's just me. but like i said, they look great, efing fantastic.
