Cool Problem Mounting SS Muffler Plate - HELP!

Just FYI for anyone with a late model PT CRuiser who is thinking about using the standard stainless steel (or chrome) muffler plate.
Race and Street: Chrysler PT Cruiser Muffler Plate - Polished Stainless Steel - American Car Craft

I have used the stainless muffler plate/cover on my past two 2006 PTs.
But, my 2010 Couture Edition has a differet mounting for the muffler.
There is a metal rod welded to the muffler that comes away from the muffler towards the passenger side. This rod goes through a bracket and rubber grommet/bushing off of the frame. I assume that this is both a muffler mounting bracket; and meant to decrease noise when going over bumps or rough roads.

Problem is...the standard stainless muffler plate/cover has a mounting hole, meant to use the ground strap mounting bolt on the older PT Cruisers.

**So, if you have at least a 2010, you may have to be creative and make a home made bracket that will go around the rod off of the muffler in order to mount the standard stainless muffler cover.
(the flange with the mounting hole bends very easily)

Would you Cruisers with the 2007-2009 PTs let me know what kind of muffler bracket you have, please?
i.e......do you have a ground strap bolt; or the welded arm on your muffler?

I'm glad you posted this because I was thinking about getting one for my 2010.

It's a beautiful addition to the rear end.
But, you'll have to make yourself and adapter/bracket to mount off of the rod on the muffler.
(that's the reflection of my tee shirt colors on the plate)

If I can do it.....anyone can. (dentist)
But, learn from me.....
When tightened down, be sure that it allows the plate to be as flat as possible against the muffler end.
Mine wasn't so much...so I had to use more high heat silicone at the edges.

P.S. I gave it a real workout tugging, and bouncing on the streets this morning. I taped off the edge and used the PS2 body shade paint to touch up any black silicone showing near the edges.
No problem so far.

I am anxious to hear from the 2008 and 2009 owners about their muffler bracket.
