I need some help, I want to remove my mirrors to get them painted. I can get the mirror loose no problem but I can't figure out how to disconnect the wiring. Is the disconnect in the mirror or do I have to remove the door panel? Please don't tell me I have to remove the door panel.

You may have to remove the door panel to dis-connect the mirror.
To remove the outside mirrors: 1. Using a flat head screwdriver, carefully pull out the upper corner of the interior beige mirror cover. 2. Unplug the electric connector. 3. Remove the three10mm bolts and gently pull out the mirror. 4. Moisture and dust may cause the gasket between the mirror and the door to stick to the door; gently pull out the gasket. If necessary, use the screwdriver to help. 5. The service manual notes that it may be necessary to remove the door panel. To remove the door panel follow the instructions in the Door Speaker Removal Procedure, steps 1 through 11. http://www.ptdoityourself.net/ptdoorspk.html

I have M3 mirrors (the one with the LED turn lights) I have yet to install. You have to go through into the wiring in the door to be able to use them.

Thanks guys, I was afraid I would have to take the door panel off.
I will give it a try this weekend.

Inside the door panel is a box for the wiring harness. If you find it, it is below the mirror and inside the panel. Its a white box that runs to your mirror. All you have to do is press in on the little button behind the wires while pulling up on the upper box piece and that should work.

I tackled my door panels today, not so bad. Didn't have to take it all the way off. Got it loose enough to reach in at the upper front corner just below the mirror and disconnect the wiring. Now I just have to wait for the painted mirrors.
