From posts I've seen, the LEDs don't put out as much light and several states (mine included) ban them for that reason. Too bad, because the essentially last forever and put out way less heat.

I have an LED taillight on my Harley and it is very bright. The city where I live has replaced all of the traffic signals with ones that have LED lights instead of blubs. Here's a couple of places that sells LED's to replace your blub in the taillight,

I just had a custom made 48 strip LED light bar added into the rear spoiler on my PT. It's brighter than the OEM brake lights in the rear fenders.

When I did have the APC taillights, they sent me LED replacement bulbs to stop the melting problem. Those LED's bulbs were half as bright as the original bulbs and I got rid of them as soon as I saw the potential danger of people behind me not seeing the brake lights.

I guess what I'm tryng to say is that some LED's are brighter than others. [:I]

After seeing all the problems that folks have had with APC products I would bet that it's their LED bulbs at fault and not all LEDs.

if you buy the right led's they are brighter than any stock tail light, I'm asking about strips though, not replacement bulbs, the kind that would be molded into my rollpan and flush mounted. Also this will not be a daily driver, so brightness isnt really a matter.

PT Cruizin 42,

Here's the link for the place with the CHMSL (Center High Mounted Stop Light). I got the Model CHMSL 200

CREWZIN, how about a pic of your spoiler? That sounds like a great idea, did you do it yourself? What were the final cost?
