widest tire

Does anybody know what's the widest tire you can put on the rear?

Somebody told me 255 will fit,is that true.
Can you help!

Ricco Cruiz,
We recomend these following sizes to our customers and have never had a problem.
16 x 7 & 7.5 - 225/50-16 (F&R)
17 x 7.5 & 8 - 235/45-17 (F&R)
18 x 8 - 225/40-18 (F&R) Optional REAR Size 245/35-18

We would not recommend going over 245 in the rear, just remeber during suspension travel is there enough inner fender clearance.

Original Equipment is: 195/65-15 and 205/55-16

I just added the Eibach ProKit Springs to my PT Cruiser and I am planning on purchasing new rims... I want to add 16 x 7 rims. Do you know of anyone who has experienced issues with tire rub? Do you think that the suggestions you made prior to this email would be okay for tire selections?

16 x 7 & 7.5 - 225/50-16 (F&R)

Or should I stick with my factory size 205/55-16?

I'm running 16x7's all round with 225's front and rear. My cruisr is lowered 1 and 3/4's in the from and 2 and 1/4 in the rear. Never had any rubbing problems even with a full load and over rough roads.
