Default Tail light interchangeability?

Was wondering if the shape, and mounting points are the same for the newer +07 PTs with the red/white tails. Have a friend with an 07 who wanted to trade.

Nobody at all has done this? I'm surprised...

I've had 6 different tail lights from OEM in 2001 to the red/white of the newer PT's and a few in between. They all fit (sort of) but sometimes you have to mess around with the wiring of the bulbs. Nothing hard.

When I say "sort of", after market taillight seem to leave a small gap around the edge. If your going from the red/amber to the red/white then they will fit without a problem.

Awesome! I just wanted to make sure, that's all.

Just need to get the new heads, 6000K HIDs, 3000K yellow fogs, debadge and it'll be set for the spring!

The light bulb sockets are different between the old and new

What socket type does the newer one use then?

Maybe I shouldn't say "light bulb sockets", maybe the light bulb holder is better? One of them mounts to the light housing with 3 tabs, and the others have 2 tabs. But if you are just trading with your friend it won't really matter because you just take the sockets with the lights.

One thing I found when I put different lights on my 2010 was that you had to play with the metal mounting springs on the lights. I had to spread them out a bit to keep the light tight against the body

I'll keep that in mind. But that's why I have a dremel handy. lol

In changing to any of the different tail lights all I had to do is bend the metal springs a little closer towards the edge so they would hold better/tighter. That's probably with PiperGeorge was referring to. No drilling or dremel required.

Oooooh. I see. I'm so used to interchanging parts with the Galant. JDM parts are always just a hair too big, or extra plastic in the way. lol
