Default Red Rear Turn lights

If you want all red tailights i found a easy way to do it yourself for under $20. In art suply stores you will find "stained glass" spray paint. It is very transparent and will not change the red..but will totally convert the amber to red. If you clear over it then wetsand and buff it looks factory!

Checked out your album, and really liked the way your tailights looked, especially with the Inferno Red color of your PT..they blend together real nice. You mentioned not sanding the lenses before painting them. Will the paint stick well enough without any sanding what-so-ever, or does the rubbing alcohol "etch" the plastic just enough? If not, wouldn't it be wise to scuff up the lenses with the 2000 grit wet-sand paper before sraying? I'd be afraid the first time I sprayed it with a car-wash wand that it would blow off. The washer nozzels and center console looked nice color-matched, too, by the way.

Hey CRUZIN NW , to tell you the truth I don't know why I didn't wet sand them first , I guess because I didn't want to mess up the lenses . I wasn't sure the sanding marks would disappear since the red was translucent . The alcohol was used just to clean them before painting . The red is a lacquer and lacquer is fairly aggressive , so I think it most likely etched the plastic enough to provide a good bond . Hope so anyway . If you do yours , you might want to get a scrap piece of plastic , sand it , spray it with the red and see what happens . So far my lenses still look great and I use the power wash bays a couple times a week , plus My pt stays outside . One thing has come up on the forums is people getting their tail lights stolen [only one screw holds them on] and someone suggested getting these one way security screws at Home Depot , ect. to hold them on . I think they come with a tool to remove them if needed . You might want to go to www.ptcruiserclub.org and check a thread on the public forums under "exterior accessories , paint ect" last posted 8 -25 or 26 titled "finally , all red tail lights , ect". There are 26 posts about this subject and a guy named BALMER BILL has some pics near the end of the thread . His came out nicer then mine . Have a good day .

[u]Yours look great OcCruiser!![\u] Great pics of the product as well to show every body. I did not spend the money for the clear from Mopar.
There are a few and very few, spray bombs that can match the quality if that clear. One company sell a can of clear about the size of the red paint for only 95 cents. there is a transparent black on the market as well to give a black out effect without antinuating the red and making it to dark..........Also did you notice that there is no chrome in the stop light cavity to reflect the light? the turn signal has chromE but not the stoplight ....strange

Hey Crash , Yea I know the Mopar clear is expensive but I wanted to be SURE I got a quality product . My PT stays outside and once I did the lenses I didn't want to do them over again or replace them because the weather got to them . seeing the whole thing cost $16.00 , I think , to do them both . I'm happy as a clam . If the paint ends up failing for some reason , I think I've figured out a way to get inside of them to paint them . one thing , I don't think they will come apart at the lens to housing seam .

Hey, you got to go with what you know works! And the mopar clear was a excellent choice. I dont have a garage eather, so any clear with a sunscreen is a good bet.I havent wetsanded and buffed mine yet so they still look look skin. but from 10 feet its hard to tell. I think they look so much better all red. It is the only thing i have done to it so far.. so it is the one thing that makes me stand out from the others.
