I HAD MY ORIGINAL GRAY BUMPERS PAINTED TO MATCH THE CAR.
I TOOK OFF THE BLACK REAR UPPER BUMPER VINYL PROTECTOR PIECE (BELOW HATCH) BEFORE IT WAS PAINTED. NOW I AM TRYING TO DECIDED TO PUT IT BACK OR HAVE IT PAINTED TO MATCH. CAR COLOR IS PATRIOT BLUE. GRAIN IS ROUGH AND PREP WILL BE NEEDED. WADDA YA TINK? |

It kinda defeats the purpose of it if you paint it.
Although, the grey piece is actually paintedso can scuff too. Your call.

Do you really need it? If you really need it, won't it get stracthed up if painted? If you really need it, what's wrong with putting it back on as is?
If you don't need it leave it off.

[8D]I've gotta agree with the previous posts BUT if you really want to paint it - do a search for "SEM Paint". They've got paint for flexible pieces, plastics, etc. Forget the search; go to www.semproducts.com (they'll mail you a color chart for FREE).[8D]

My '03 GT came with painted bumpers but I didn't want my Irish Wolfhound scratching the bumpers when he jumped in and out of the back. I bought the bumper protector and installed it without painting it. I really thought it looked terrible. I painted it with the Mopar spray paint and was very pleased with the change in appearance. However, since I didn't properly prepare the surface, the paint started sluffing off. I cleaned the paint off with a fine wire brush, cleaned it, then sprayed a coat of flexible undercoat for plastics on it. I resprayed with the Mopar paint and it is holding up well.
