First Stage in redoing my wheels...stripping!
I used some hardcore chemical remover to remove the finish off the wheels. This was NOT easy. The lip was machined then coated with a layer of clear coat from the manufacturer. The center, on the other hand, has three layers. The top is the same clearcoat on the lip, the middle is the supposed "HyperBlack" Im assuming and the bottom is a black powdercoat material. Im taking a break from the third application of the chemical and the pic shows most of the third layer off. Basically Im scrapping, wire brushing and soon to be using a wire brush drill bit to get everything off. ![]() Because the WRX wheels Im borrowing in the meantime dont clear the GTs calipers, I can only do two at a time... ![]() Im loving this because ALL the work is being done by ME! ![]() Stage II: Polishing the lip... |

Don't see your pics. Dreaded red X instead.

Hey Mean Green,
I learned this trick from another thread on one of these forums last week. When you get the dreaded red X, right-click the X & then click on properties. Copy the url address & paste that into your browser window. Hit your Go to button & the picture will appear. Next click the Back arrow & the article should reappear w/ the picture where the red X was. Hope this helps.

You're brave, Laur.
Little WRX wheels look anemic on your car. Like the rollpan.
