Default Heated Mirrors

I have a 06 pt cruiser with non heated mirrors and want to install heated mirrors. Does anyone know if there is anything special i will need to do to install them? Are they on all the time or is there a switch in the cab that turns them on or ???

I have an 01 with heated mirrors and it does have a switch on the dash to turn them on. they also turn off with the ignition and will not come back on when car is started unless you push the switch again. you may also look at mirrors on an 01 or 02 that has heated fold in mirrors.

2006 came with heated mirrors, they should come on when you turn on the rear window Defogger.

....and so does the 2001. There's not a separate switch, it's all tied into the rear window defroster/defogger. The switch has a picture of a square window with electrical lines which is the same as the icon on the heated mirrors BUT it is the same universal icon for the heated rear window.

Mine don't either, I think that was only from 2001-2002.
I also don't have the wavy line in #2 but a light where the red dot is.
Also, look to see if you have a fuse in slot #25.

I have a 2005 pt classic (ignore my username). Power mirrors, but not heated. I recently purchased some power, heated mirrors from a 2001 model, but the wiring connectors are not the same from the mirror to the door connector. Any quick solutions for getting these to work? Would the wiring inside the doors of the 01 model make this easier or is there a simpler work around? Thanks for your replies!

I added heated mirrors to my car by using a pigtail connector to replace the connector located behind the door panel. I cut it from the same car in the salvage yard that had the heated mirrors I took. Then you can splice in the new connector and run a new wire through the door for the defroster.

Thanks. That's what I thought was needed, but after having the parts shipped to me, I forgot to ask them for the pigtail in the door. Now they won't cut apart the door wiring even though the car is destined for the crusher and want $25 for each door wiring harness + shipping....so probably another $100 total. I was hoping for another option (if feasible or possible)?
