Price and quality vary tremendously depending on where you live and who does the work. I have always had the best luck when I find a "poor boy" painter with a good reputation. Then I pay him what he asks without haggle and then don't rush him. I imagine between $750 and $1000 is the right price if you can find the right guy.

Also, a good paint job should last 50 years and not just 2 or 10 years.

Good luck With the 50 year thing. The life of the paint will greatly be deturmined by these things. Prep by the painter, weather exposure, care, cleaning & waxing by the owner, And Quality of the paint and related materals used. The higher end clears hold up better that the lower priced ones. Price of such materals not so much affected by were you live. But regulations can affect the shops operating costs & the avalbility of materals to the side painter. The poor boy thing can be good or a nightmare. The latter costing more to correct than the job should have cost in the first place. Do your home work no matter who you get to do it. 10 years on the street is a accepable range with good quality clears.

To have the job done right, everything that touches the paint would need to be removed from the vehicle as the shop would want to clear under the item (door handles, lock cylinders, any badging, washer spray nozzles, antenna, headlights, driving lights, etc.) rather than mask around these items. This requires extra time and labor and that can get expensive. For instance, to repaint the doors the handles, lock cylinder, glass weatherstripping, black trim applique, mirror, lower door spears, would be removed. To remove the handles you have to remove the interior door panels. At different times, various panels have been repainted on my PT, for different reasons. When the front bumper was repainted, the shop removed it from the vehicle. In fact, the only original paint that exists is the roof, rear hatch, rear bumper and L/R quarter panel.

Cool Re: Repainting!!! Feedback on cost single color.

Now mind you this wasn't any special deal, but...
My fav body shop just charged me $1,300 to paint the hood front fenders, and front bumper.
It was the 2005 Dream Cruiser in Deep Lava Red......so I wanted a good, matching job.

Don't forget to sand and paint the mirror shells while you are at it. Looks 100 times better than black plastic...
