Default Painted Hood Latch

Anybody think of painting the hood latch, top or bottom, to match some accessory in the engine compartment. I took off the top latch (only two bolts) and painted it to match things in the engine compartment but not sure if I like it or not...sort of stands out. Plus there's two spots that are wearing off right away as the hood open and closes. Haven't done the bottom part yet. What ya think?

Does kinda stand out doesn't it. I like the idea of painting it but don't know if I like that much contrast. My car being black might turn out better, black on black. I did paint my engine cowls black.

Crewzin,
Thanks gave me something to use the grey matter on until the Phillies start. Like it on your car with all the other engine mods you've done, but how could I incorporate this on mine. Would sandblasting & powder coating eliminate the rub spots???

It's the same "Viper Red" that's on the Strut Bar, Vanity cover, intake stripes and decals.

Gonzo,

I took a good look where the rub spots are and got out the ole Drummel Tool. The rub spots were on two edges of the latch and I used a small wire brush tip to clean and polish the whole edge. Doesn't look too bad now but don't know low long those polished edges will hold up before rusting or looking dull.

Good idea. I'd never seen one painted, but I've seen several chromed.

I like shiney stuff too! I plan to add some chrome components on mine. Chix, is there a pic of the chrome latch for us to oogle? I've never seen any modded latches before until I saw Crewzin's. I just want to compare.
