Default Sunroof Glass?

Can the Sunroof Glass be removed from the Mechanism? I'm wanting to delete the Motor, and tray, etc from the sunroof.

Yes.

Put the sunroof in the vent position and there are two torx head bolts on each side. Remove those from inside the car and the glass lifts right out.

Even if you remove the entire mechanism and replace the glass with a piece of plexiglass with a rubber gasket, it still makes it easier to remove the glass before dropping the mechanism.

Here's a thread where I changed mine out.

I removed the mechanism with glass in tack. Reinstalled with glass in also. I did this without any help. Wasn't hard.

As you probably already read above it easy to remove but keep in mind the track for SunRoof is also a rain gutter with 4 downspouts to keep your interior dry

Yup, this car sits in the Garage 90% of the time, so won't see much precipitation if any :-)

You are more of a man than I am. I removed the glass to lighten the weight and then got my son to set one side while I got the other so the mechanism wouldn't fall on the head liner. It was very quick since I didn't have to removed the glued-on electrical wires from the head liner. But it was a two-man job while removing and installing the mechanism

Also for the OP, you can usually buy that generic rubber window gasket off of a role at many glass shops. I used to buy it regularly when we used to refurbish heavy equipment. Most of the stuff we got in to work on had all the glass knock out of the cab. If you make a pattern out of cardboard, the glass shop may be able to sell you plexiglass and cut it to shape for you.
