Default Trailer hitch bolts

Hi folks,
I picked up a used Reese trailer hitch for my
'03 GT, but it did not come with any hardware.
Does anyone know EXACTLY what bolts (size, thread pitch, grade,
length) are needed to attach the hitch? I wont be able to work on the car so I will be handing it iver to my mechanic with, hopefully, the correct hardware. All help appreciated!

What exact model of Reese trailer hitch did you bought? I bought 1 for my self at 4 Wheel Online and I believe you can just buy the parts you need from them.

This outfit is a little on the expensive side {to me}

Replacement Hardware Kit for Trailer Hitches etrailer Accessories and Parts RHK

I suppose depending on how much you already invested in the hitch it might seem cheap enough though.

When my kid wrecked our '06 Neon I decided to move the hitch from it to our '05 Neon. I could not get all the hardware out of the frame on the '06 so I bought some bar stock at a hardware store and made those rectangular bits myself.

Of course I have a drill press and an assortment of files so I was able to make the square holes in them. I decided to replace all the carriage bolts with 2&1/2"x1/2" R8's also from the hardware store. The originals were 3" long but I had to shorten them to get them to come out the hole in the frame. the 2" length was just right for them to pivot and come out.

When I originally bought the hitch there was a length of wire for fishing the bolts through the frame and pulling them out the hole. It can be kind of a challenge to do that part. You can order those on eBay. Just take your time and do not allow yourself to get frustrated and just yank on the wire. If you straighten out the part the bolt screws into you will never be able to wrap a new end in it.

My younger brother uses a length of wire feed welding wire and duct tape instead of the 'fish' wire. He installs a lot of trailer hitches on vehicles where he works.
Don't put off until tomorrow what you might be able to put off indefinitely.

I pulled a "Hidden hitch" off a 2001 and couldn't get the parts inside the frame. This is the old style that is no longer made. Went to the local hitch shop and he gave me all new hardware at no cost. You might try the same.

Thanks for the replies, everyone.
Took it to a friends shop, and we unbolted the shipping tiedown brackets on the rear 'frame' and the hitch bolted right up to the existing captive nuts in the frame. No drilling and reused the same bolts. Welded it on as well - just as insurance!
