Default Side mirror/case broke - easy to fix myself?

Howdy all,

I have a 2007 PT. I broke the driver's side mirror and outer case on a cement pillar.

I've checked out some YouTube and instructional things, and it seems easy, but I'm just wondering if there's any impediments that would stop me from replacing it myself.

I've replaced bulbs and stuff before, and it looks like I just have to remove the bolts and electric connector and reconnect, but I just wanted to make sure before I order that I wasn't overlooking some step that would foil me.

Also, any known places to order from would be appreciated recommendations!

Thanks, all!

I have my set off my 03 GT if you're interested in the set.
I think they should fit. Maybe someone can chime in and let us know.

PM me if you're interested.

They are easy to replace. Remove the inside triangular trim piece and remove 3 nuts. You will also have to remove the interior door panel to unplug the mirror electrical wires. I have been told that a Gen1 mirrors won't fit a Gen2, but then others have said they will, but I have not seen this actually done.

Thanks for the info!

I was with you until I got to replacing the door panel, but none of the places around me have the piece in stock, so I guess I'll order the part and give it a go.

Thanks again!

Removing the door panel on these cars is very easy. Just a few screws to remove and then a couple of 10 mm bolts in the arm rest. Start in any corner and start gently pulling it out and pop the rest of the way loose. Pick it up and disconnect the wiring harness from the electric connector. Don't worry about removing the clip for the door handle. You won't need to.

Here's a video "How To".......

The side mirrors should interchange for all years with the minor exception of some possible functional changes over time, such as heated mirrors, power adjust or the swing away deal. I don't recall if or what changes are possible, though, so just use your own common sense. I do recall that the convertible mirrors can't be switched with the hard tops because they are a different shape due to the doors and windshields being at a different angle....... I think???

Like I said, you DO NOT have to completely remove the panel. You can let it ride on the door linkage. It only takes a couple of seconds to undo the electrical collection for the mirror.

The mirrors are easy to take off, once you get over your fear of popping off the door panel. If I may say so, this would be a good time to think about sanding the plastic shells and painting them the matching body color...
