Default Dutch PT "Van" Conversion Kit

I saw these photos on a PT Cruiser Facebook page. It's a conversion kit that converts your diesel PT Cruiser into a 'van' for less tax on the vehicle.

You must remove the rear seats to make it legal. I have never seen one before and I think it's pretty cool! I'm wondering if it is available over here?

It may be a good idea for owners to do that to save some money but I'm glad they don't have that "accessory" over here. I think it ruins the look of the PT.

There a re a few "Van" conversions over here that don't change the overall look of the PT.

What is a "van" classified as, a car? The PT is classified as a truck in Texas. Don't they only have 2 classifications, car or truck?

I think he may be talking about a cruisers overseas (diesel) where there's different classifications and taxes depending on the size of the engine and type of vehicle.

Yes, as the thread title says "Dutch" PT vans. They are required to be diesel, have the interior expanded to a certain minimum volume, and the rear seats removed. Then they can register them as a small truck and save money on taxes.

Yes I have seen other "panel van" conversions done, and they are cool as well. I just thought this one was unique and also cool.

So in other words, "they" don't really know what to classify a PT as

I just had the annual inspection done on my PT, and on that report, they classify the PT as a "passenger car" but I'm going to have to look at my title or registration again, I'm sure it said "truck."

I would like to see what a PT would look like with a set of split rear doors on it, like a panel van has

The great sovereign and heaven-like state of Arkansas considered the PT a utility vehicle too. Doesn't matter if you cut it up or make it into something else, the identifying code on the title stays as is. I could turn my PT into a wheelbarrow and it would still be classified the same.
