Default My Sweeplite woes . . .

As I mentioned a while back, I ordered a set of Sweeplites for FIREBALL. They should have arrived last week (I was really hoping to install them last weekend.). But they didn't.

I saw that there was no tracking number to check. And subsequently Sweeplite emailed me and inquired as to whether or not I got them. Nope. Turns out that they were lost at the Post Office.

So Sweeplite offered to send a replacement at no charge. Well, I got a phone call from 'them' today. Actually, Sweeplite is a retired Electrical Engineer who designed the lights, and sells them himself. His name is Tony, and he called to apologize, but it turns out he got a new shipment of the lights in (he contracts the assemblies out) and they are no good. So he can't send me a replacement yet. He explained that he was going on vacation and has some family obligations to take care of so it may be awhile.

Long story short (hah) he has decided to give me a refund, and when he gets a correctly working set, he will ship them free of charge.

I told him not to worry, and I would pay for them. It's not an emergency that I get them.

He said he had about 6 kits, and suddenly got a bunch of orders for them and sold out and was wondering if some club heard about them. I mentioned this site.

As a side note, his wife has a PT and her car was the Guinea Pig for his circuits.

That was very nice of him to offer that!

You might take him up on his offer, or offer to pay half for the inconvenience and the other order being lost.

I had an email exchange with Tony after I installed mine and then shortly after installation, one of the lights began to hyper-flash. His wife's PT is an '06 and didn't need the extra resistors, but mine did, which he provided free of charge. That's just a quirk with the CANbus system since the LED Sweeplites pull less power, and my PT was just on the verge of needing the resistors or not. But I've had the Sweeplites on my PT for about 15 months now and they still work great.

But I give Tony kudos for doing some quality control on his products. He could have sent you the defective ones and they may or may not work, or maybe intermittently and you would really be disappointed. So I'm glad to hear that he discovered the problems before he sent them out.

Well, he explained that the company that supplied his new shipment, put the wrong LEDs in. They are supposed to be all yellow, but apparently they mixed in some red ones. So, that won't work for a turn signal. I bet that it probably would look cool though! Grab attention for sure! Especially if it were to be yellow, red, yellow.

Yeah, he seems like a really nice guy, and he just kept apologizing. I had to end the conversation!
