Can somebody who understands these things better than me tell me why chrome paint on my black grill wouldn't work to give the effect of a chrome grill rather than buying that plastic stuff?
Thanks in advance. |

Chrome paint isn't as reflective (shiny) as the plastic. The plastic has a type of chrome mylar embedded in a clear cover. This cover is tough and resists rock chips. If you get a plastic that is UV resistant, it doesn't yellow easily. DIY recommends paint the ends with clear nail polish. This is basically lacquer that's not UV protected. I just got a roll of TRIM-GARD 5/16" L- shaped door edge guard (NE01-50) to use on the grill and around the side glass. Put it on last spring, live in Texas, and had no problems except for nail polish.
