Default Anyone changed the bezel on their antenna

Is it a tough job.

How hard is it to put mud flaps on. FForgive me for my ignorance.

uhh. sarcasm?

It took me longer to get the drill out and get on the floor than it did to install the flaps.

To comment on the mud flaps, if you are using the molded rear ones, you really don't need to drill the extra hole. Just remove the 2 existing screws with either a stubby or angled srewdriver and then install the mud flaps.

Had the dealer put the chrome bezel on for me, looks great with the 6inch chrome shorty antenna, which they also installed for me. Same for the rear mud guards.

I know that there is a special tool for the antenna bezel but for a one time thing I don't think it worth the extra expence, even though it is probably in the 10 to 15 dollar neighborhood. Just be careful and use a flat head screw driver and tap, tap, tap. Mind you be careful, one slip and your screw driver has now made a nice scratch in your fender. Take your time, tap, tap, tap. You have to remember also that the bezel is not metal, tap to hard and you put a dent in the bezel, doesn't look good.

Don't unscrew your antenna. Unscrew the locking nut that holds the bezel in place. When unscrewed hold the antenna, lift off the nut and the bezel. Reinstall the new bezel and start the nut while holding the antenna. Now tighten the nut will not fall into fender well.

When installing the shorty antenna, do you lose a lot of reception?

Dave,

That all depends on where you live and the power of the stations you listen to. Some of the bigger local stations put out 50,000 watts and you should be able to go almost anywhere in your state. Other less powerful stations you'll probably lose before you reach your ship!

What I couldn't hear you through the static. That is why I listen to CDs instead.

I heard the reception is the same as what Crewzin said.
