Is there anybody out there who has had a lasting good experience with the APC next generation tail lights?
Seems to me everybody is really excited when they install them, but the only thing I hear after six months or so is bad news, like "my tail lights melted" or "my tail lights keep fogging up" or "my tail lights don't fit" or "my tail lights cracked for no apparent reason." I love the look, but somebody - anybody - tell me they last. Help me Obiwan Kenobe, you're my only hope. If you haven't cruised Maryland, you haven't cruised. (unless you cruised somewhere else) |

Stay away from anything with APC on it. This topic has been talked about in...

So far mine have not been bad. I did change the Brake light bulbs to LED's just to be safe....and I am still tweaking them to get them to fit properly but I haven't had any issues with them fogging and I have not noticed any surface "scratches like those noted on the older models.
Granted I have only had them for a few weeks. Who knows what will develop in the future. -------- 2003 Silver GT PT Cruiser 3rd Brk cling, clear front signal bulbs, APC GEN2 Eurotails. |

I know we all jumped on APC for the troubles they've had on the taillights, and I'm not backing them up becuase I'm one of the ones who had the melting problem, but APC has been making auto products for a long time mainly for the "rice" crowd and most of their stuff seems to be OK. I think they rushed into getting something on the market for the PT and blew it. I know of a few people that have the Intimidator Air Intake and nobody's having problems and that (even though most people don't know it) was made by APC. A bunch of the "ricers" hang out on a Saturday night at one of my car clubs. They all seem to have the APC chrome lights on their civics and trucks and there doesn't seem to be any complaints.

STILL not one person dares to post "I've had my PT Cruiser APC tail lights" for a year and they are great."
I'm broken hearted. They look so good. If you haven't cruised Maryland, you haven't cruised. (unless you cruised somewhere else) |

Jeff,
If it makes you feel better.....When the first set of Carbon Fiber lights melted I called APC and then went thru the dealer I bought them from. I sent them back and it took awhile but last September the replacement lights arrived with supposedly some changes that would stop them from melting again. I've had them on since then (Sept 2002) and so far no problem. ![]() ![]() Trade your GAMES & MOVIE DVD's at: www.gametradingpost.net |

Does anyone sell the small taillights that look like 1939 Ford units at a reasonable price? I felt the $599. was a tad silly. Here I go again about prices of stuff....... I Do love the retro look of them. They WOULD look cool with blue dots!

Jeff--I too like the look. I bought a pair of clear (not carbon fiber) as my first mod. They've been on my Steel Blue GT since November 2002 without the problems common to most posts. They also came with a set of 4 LED bulbs to replace the OEM brake & tailight bulbs. This should take care of any potential heat problem from the OEM bulbs. The only annoyance is that the turn signals blinks like a maniac with a caffine overdose. As I understand it, the computer is trying to tell me that the OEM bulb is burnt out, so it blinks the LED byulbs very rapidly. This blinking does not affect the brake light, only the turn signal. I've gotten used to it, but 1st timers in my GT usually comment about the frantic flasher.
Hope this helps. Only time will tell if the APC tail lights holds up. |
