Do any of you who have this mod run into any trouble from the law for not having amber in the tail lights?

The laws in most states don't require that the turn signals be amber colored; they can usually be red, amber or yellow. Just check your state DMV laws.

no you wont have a problem
for example the H2 used to have amber now it is solid red for '04
many more like taurus and E-series vans have also done this during production
