Default APG Shark Fin Wind Splint?

Do these actually do something aerodynamically speaking, or are they just for show? Anyone have one? I assume they get applied with 3m tape or something. Might make an interesting hood ornament! I also found some in black and carbon fiber on a mini cooper site, but they had a hole in them for the roof antenna.

I've seen them on BMW's and some other cars. On them I beleive they are the antenna. CJJ

well, the link I provided doesn't mention anything about them being an antenna... and I wouldn't want people to think that it was an Sirius antenna, and give anyone another reason to possibly break into my car..?

They are an aftermarket chrome cover for the Serius antena on the PT so equiped. I looked at them and decided they looked like the old chrome VFW helmets or something worn by a high school marching band. Not like a "chrome cruiser" type of thing. JMHO

That's what I thought, too.
Nothing to do with aerodynamics.

Actually, they are fake satellite antenna thingies, just another way for Honda Civic owners to try and make their cars look like a 3 series BMW (along with "M" badges and front fender vents). They won't fit over the factory Sirius antenna 'cause the shape is totally different. I know, I tried at a local PT Owners event as I have Sirius in my car - no go.
