hood damage :(

so im at college and today sometime this afternoon a truck or something with a high bumper hit my cruiser and the hood is dented in. I go to a tech school and had the colision class look at it and they said with the cost of labor to fix and fill the dent it would almost definetly be cheaper to buy a new hood unless they did it in class and regardless the whole hood would need a new paint job and be blended into the rest of the car.

so poor colege kid's insurance will simply have to go up because it was a hit and run.

now i have to decide on how to fix it and get it apraised by insurance.

That stinks man, sorry to hear. I've been hit once in a parking lot (about 25 years ago) while away from my car, but at least someone left me a note. Of course, she totally creamed the right front corner, but she did the right thing.

One question though - how come the "before" pic looks like a black PT and the "after" looks like a blue one?

Does the hood latch okay?

latch is obnoxiously hard to open.

it is going to be a ton of money to get a hood and paint match it to the fenders and all. Talked to a few of the auto body teachers and students who work in shops and they all said it would be a bunch of money greater part of 1000 if not more dependent on shop.


So i think im going to get a carbon fiber hood and scrap the paint process.

Fiber Images is the manufacturer.



around 550 for the hood. In clasic carbon fiber color or 125 more for red blue or gold.

the blue carbon sounds pretty neat and i bet itll look better than the red in that pic because the patriot blue is darker.

my roommate helped me find a hood, alot cheaper and a really good brand. He has one of their hoods on a civic and it is really nicely made and its 414 plus about 125 shipping
VIS is the brand and its from andysautosport.com . Not bad if you ask me. compared to the 550 of that hood i posted above plus 125 or more shipping.

but i guess stuff happens , atleast im getting it fixed.

and its also too bad that my friend back home with the same color car threw his in the trash when he got his good hood.
