Default Washer light hookup

On my last PT I hooked up LED washer lights to a switch - simple on or off.
Is there a way to hook to turn signals so they're on with running lights & blink when signals do? I remember a thread on PTE a while ago with circuitry to have LEDs be normally dim, then flash bright with signals, and I thought if you wired to the running lights, the LEDs would go out when blinker went on - flashing out of synch.
Anybody do this? Am I making sense? What color wire do you grab if you've done this...[:I]
