Don't know about the residence setup for all you other Cruiser folks, but our place is located in a no-street-lights area. When backing out of the garage, we're also making a turn so as to then drive forward into our front street. There's the neighbor's shrubs along side of where we're making that backwards turn, and at night it's hard to see and avoid hitting something.....especially with just the little bit of light the original backup bulbs throw out.
Luckily, I ran across some pretty powerful bulbs for the backups. I've used them for a bit now, and they really light things up. They're halogen 50-watters, with a bulb number designation of 3156 (though Chrysler seems to call for 3157, these 3156's fit also). The bulb maker does caution to "...not leave the bulb on for more than several minutes at a time...." since overheating might affect the backup light housing. I don't expect this to be a problem in our backing out and can't picture an instance where I could be backing up for more than a couple or so minutes at a time. If such were to occur, I guess I'd just have to stop and allow cool down before proceeding on backwards.
For anyone else wanting to see better, here's a couple of links. Happy Cruising!
